Segunda División is the second tier of the Venezuelan football league system. The Venezuelan second division was founded in 1979.

Copa América story

Venezuela first appeared in the 1967 Copa América and finished fifth after beating Bolivia 3-0 against Mendoza and Santana. The overall record of the Copa América was relatively poor (goal difference 33-145 ahead of the Copa America 2011), but the "eye Vinotinto" phase (Vinotinto Rise) in the early 2000s (decade) drew attention to the country's sport in turn brought with it increased support from both public and private institutions.
