Venezuela Primera Division
The Primera División or Liga Venezolana is the highest professional football league in Venezuela. It was founded in 1921 and appointed a professional in 1957. It is organized by the Federación Venezolana de Fútbol.
The 20 teams play two individual round tournaments each year: the Apertura (February to June) and the Clausura (August to December). The leaderboard will be run as a normal European leaderboard, a point for a tie, three points for victories.
The absolute champion is decided between the Apertura and Clausura Champions. If the same team is the champion of both tournaments, this team is the absolute champion.
The winner of the Apertura and Clausura tournaments qualifies for the group stage of the Copa Libertadores (the absolute champion qualifies as Venezuela 1 and the runner-up as Venezuela 2). The team with the most points throughout the season (Apertura + Clausura) qualifies for the preliminary round of the Copa Libertadores as Venezuela 3.
The second and third team with the most points throughout the season qualify for the Copa Sudamericana as Venezuela 1 and Venezuela 2. If a team has won both tournaments that qualify for the Copa Libertadores as Venezuela 1, the first and second team with the most points all season qualify for the Copa Libertadores as Venezuela 2 and Venezuela 3 and the fourth and fifth team Most points throughout the season qualify for the Copa Sudamericana as Venezuela 1 and Venezuela 2.
If the winner of the Copa Venezuela does not qualify in the above-mentioned ways or by the overall score for the Copa Libertadores throughout the season, he occupies the 2nd place in Venezuela in the Copa Sudamericana.
