The Peruvian national football team has been organized by the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) since 1927 to represent Peru in the international football federation. The FPF is one of the ten members of the FIFA Confederation for South American Football (CONMEBOL). Peru have won the Copa America twice and qualified five times for the FIFA World Cup (most recently in 2018). It also participated in the 1936 Olympic football competition and reached the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Most of the home games denies the team in the Estadio Nacional in Lima, the capital of the country.

The team is known for its white jerseys adorned with a diagonal red stripe that combine the Peruvian national colors. This basic design is used continuously since 1936 and leads to the team's common Spanish nickname, la Blanquirroja ("the white-and-red"). Peruvian football fans are known for their special jubilation ¡Arriba Perú! ("Continue to Peru!"). Peru has longstanding rivalries with Chile and Ecuador.
The Peruvian national team experienced their most successful periods in the 1930s and 1970s. In the 1930s, Peru took part in the first FIFA World Cup in 1930 and won the 1938 Bolivarian Games and the Copa América 1939, with goalkeeper Juan Valdivieso and strikers Teodoro Fernández and Alejandro Villanueva played important roles. In the 1970s, Peru qualified for three World Championships and won the 1975 Copa America, which gained worldwide recognition. The team at that time consisted mainly of defender Héctor Chumpitaz and the striker partnership of Hugo Sotil and Teófilo Cubillas, who were often regarded as Peru's biggest player.
The best goal scorer of the national team is Paolo Guerrero with 38 goals and the player with the most internationals is Roberto Palacios with 128 missions. Under coach Ricardo Gareca, Peru took third place at the Copa América 2015, reached the quarter-finals of the Copa América Centenario, participated in the group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and finished second at the Copa America 2019.
