Levan Kobiashvili is a former Georgian footballer and the current president of the Georgian Football Association.

He played mainly as left winger or left winger. During his career Levan played for Gorda Rustavi, Dinamo Tbilisi, Alania Vladikavkaz and three German clubs: SC Freiburg, Schalke 04 and Hertha BSC.

Kobiashvili is the most populated Georgian player with 100 internationals for Georgia.

On October 4, 2015, he was elected president of the Georgian Football Association.

Kobiashvili began his career in the home club Avaza Tbilisi. His first professional club was Gorda Rustavi, where he debuted in 1993 in the Umaglesi League. After spending two years at the Rustavi-based club, Kobiashvili moved to Dinamo Tbilisi in 1995. Under the guidance of the famous former player and former Dinamo coach David Kipiani, Kobiashvili became one of the key players of the club.

At the beginning of 1997 Alania Vladikavkaz declared her interest in the Georgian midfielder. Dinamo Tbilisi let Kobiashvili with a loan contract for the entire season from the club. Kobiashvili joined some of his compatriots there, including Mikheil Ashvetia, Giorgi Gakhokidze and Kakhaber Tskhadadze. He played 21 appearances for the club and scored five goals in the Russian Top League. Kobiashvili also played in the UEFA Cup and scored in four games a single goal (against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk).

In the summer of 2003 Kobiashvili's contract with Freiburg expired and he decided to leave the club. He received an offer from future UEFA Cup winner CSKA Moscow. The coach of the Russian team, Valeri Gazzaev, was interested in signing the Georgian midfielder with whom he had worked in Alania five years earlier. However, Kobiashvili decided to stay in Germany and signed a three-year contract with Schalke 04.

Kobiashvili became the starting member of his new club in the first season. Schalke coach Jupp Heynckes used him as left-back. With Ralf Rangnick's arrival Kobiashvili returned to midfield and became an important link between Schalke's defense and attack. Kobiashvili extended the contract with the club two years after joining the Gelsenkirchen team by 2010. Schalke's general director Rudi Assauer said Kobiashvili was one of the best new signings they had made in the past decade.

One of the best games in Kobiashvili's career was in the 2005/06 season against PSV Eindhoven, where he scored a hat-trick. Two of them were penalties. After the game, he was praised by coach Ralf Rangnick and teammate Frank Rost, who described Kobiashvili as a real pro who was an example to them. Later that season Schalke moved to the UEFA Cup, where the team reached the semi-finals and lost to eventual champions FC Sevilla.

During his career with Schalke Kobiashvili won three titles: the DFL League Cup 2005 and the UEFA Intertoto Cup 2003 and 2004.

On December 20, 2009, he announced that he will leave FC Schalke 04 to switch to Hertha BSC. He joined his new club on January 1, 2010.
