Estonia Esiliiga A
The Esiliiga is the second league in the Estonian football league system. The Esiliiga lies below the Meistriliiga and above the Esiliiga B.
As in most low temperature winter countries, the season starts in March and ends in November. The league has several reserve teams from Meistriliiga clubs. According to the rules of the Estonian Football Association reserve teams are not eligible for promotion to the Meistriliiga, but can participate in the Estonian Cup.
During the season, the teams play four times against each other, twice at home and twice away. This gives a total of 36 games per season. The teams receive three points for a win, one for a draw and no for a defeat. Rise and descent between divisions is a key feature of the league. At the end of the season, the clubs rise at the top of their league in the next higher league, while the clubs descend in the lowest league in the next lower league. At the end of a season, the best Esiliiga club rises to the Meistriliiga. This assumes that the Esiliiga Club meets the license criteria of the Meistriliiga. Reserve teams in Estonia play in the same league system as the senior national team. However, they must play at least one level below their main team and therefore can not climb into the Meistriliiga. Two Esiliiga lower league clubs are relegated to Esiliiga B, and two Esiliiga B top league clubs are joining the Esiliiga. The two-legged play-offs for Meistriliiga-Platz will be played between the ninth (second bottom) club in the Meistriliiga and the second in the Esiliiga, and the two-legged play-offs for Esiliiga-Platz will be played between eighth (third bottom) Club in the Esiliiga and the third in the Esiliiga B.
The table contains all the scores, points and goals of all the teams that have played in the Esiliiga since their formation in 1992. The following table is correct at the end of the 2018 season. In the season Esiliiga 2019 teams play in bold. Bold numbers are the highest (record) numbers in each column.
In this ranking are awarded 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a defeat. Promotion and relegation games of clubs of higher or lower leagues will not be scored.
