Egyptian Second Division

The Egyptian Second Division 2018-19 was the 39th edition of the Egyptian Second Division, the highest Egyptian semi-professional level for football clubs, since its inception in 1977. The season began on 8 August 2018 and ended on 19 April 2019. Schedules for The Season 2018-19 was announced on May 23, 2018.

Aswan, Masr and Tanta won Group A, Group B and Group C respectively, securing promotion to the 2019-20 Egyptian Premier League.

The Egyptian national football team, colloquially called "The Pharaohs," represents Egypt in international men's football and is chaired by the Egyptian Football Federation (EFA), the governing body of Egyptian football. The hometown of the team is Cairo and their historic stadium is the Cairo International Stadium, although they have already played in other stadiums in Alexandria and Cairo. In 2019 and during the 2019 African Nations Cup, the pharaohs returned to their historic stadium.

The Egyptian national team is the most successful national team in Africa and has won the African Nations Cup seven times at record levels: the 1957 inaugural edition and the 1959 home team, as well as the 1986, 1998, 2006 edition in Egypt. In the FIFA World Ranking, Egypt reached in 2008 and 2010. Thus, the team is one of only three African national teams, which have come under the top ten in the world (the other two are Nigeria and Morocco). Despite their remarkable continental record, Egypt have so far played only three World Cup matches (1934, 1990 and 2018). The Egyptian team was the first non-European or American team to qualify for the World Cup.

Egypt is notorious for holding a spectacular continental record and yet not standing on the world stage. Their first and second participation separated by a record high of 56 years and 13 days. Her third participation was 28 years and 3 days later. Another record held by Egypt is the oldest player ever to play at the World Cup, goalkeeper Essam El Hadary, at 45 years and 156 days. Egypt has not won a match at the World Cup yet.
